LOVE, LAUGHTER, AND LIGHT ON THE ICONIC ISLE OF HOPE
Sean and Wesley’s Isle of Hope micro-wedding was everything I love about weddings packaged up into one beautiful day. Intentional choices, close friends and family, and TRUE parts of their love story sewn throughout the whole thing.
We started the day at their family friend’s house on the iconic Bluff Drive in the Isle of Hope. Sean and Wesley rolled up to the front gate in their friend’s vintage 1978 Cougar (hello entrance!!) before heading in to start getting dressed. While we loitered through the house, I got the chance to meet and get to know some of their family and snack on some delicious treats from Auspicious Bakery (a must-have for morning weddings in Savannah).
I find something so relaxing and enjoyable in the air when couples get ready together. Helping each other do your buttons, fix your hair, straighten your tie? It’s intimate. It can be such a beautiful shared memory and great for couples who just want to spend the whole day together.
When guests began arriving via trolley, I saw more of Sean and Wesley’s life in action. Their years living cross-country from one another, combined with their love for travel, brought people from all over. Friends and family from here on the Georgia coast mixed with loved ones from NOLA, Denver, and DC flooded into the yard and mingled with such joy!
The ceremony was just gorgeous. Floral arrangements from Madeline Reed Floral lined the aisle facing the river and the live-oak-lined street. As far as backyard weddings go, this setting was just about as perfect as it gets! There were personal vows and readings done by their siblings and friends, and it ended with the whole group sending them off with bubbles to their getaway boat.
After a lunch at the Savannah Yacht Club, everyone dispersed to relax and enjoy the city. Later that night, me and the crew met up at Over Yonder for the after party. Swapping from our barrier reef formal wear to Canadian cowboy attire set the mood for a casual night of live music and drinks. To wrap up the evening, a delicious cooler from Leopold’s Ice Cream was passed around by our grooms. The whole day was just perfect, and you could see how much everyone involved enjoyed the full experience of celebrating with Sean and Wesley.
